STARS Kids

Camp Directors

The STARS program loves helping kids learn theater and have fun in the process. Their program is educational as well as exciting, and it begins another summer of serving the greater Fairfield, Ohio community. Never forgetting to celebrate an awesome past, Mindy and Jay, and their assistant directors and interns will continue to look for new ways to make these stars shine.

“We look forward to being a bright light for kids to discover and learn theatre.” – Jay Muldoon and Mindy Reed

Jay Muldoon

Jay has taught high school theater for the past 20 years, and has directed high school, middle school and elementary aged productions for the past 25 years.  Jay is a director and teacher of theater at Fairfield High School, where he works with a fantastic artistic team of directors/designers. A graduate in theater from Bridgewater State College University, Jay has played many roles throughout his theater career, including: director, actor, producer, sound and light technician, technical director, and set designer; but above all he is a theater teacher. STARS Summer Community Theater means a great deal to Jay since he looks forward to seeing the elementary students create theater each year, but he also loves that his own children are part of the program. Jay and his wife Loraine are blessed with six boys, all of whom love their summer STARS.

Mindy Reed

Mindy Reed has been a French teacher and Assistant Drama Director at FHS for 20 years. She has directed high school, middle school and elementary age students. As a co-creator of the STARS program, Mindy gets to share her passion for theater with students of all ages, working together to learn how to tell a story. A graduate of Wake Forest University, as a Presidential Scholar in Theater, Mindy was able to work in the various aspects of theater, including acting, directing, producing, setting lights, and creating and coordinating props and costumes. STARS Summer Community Theater also has a special place in Mindy’s heart, since her young children are now able to share in some of the camp experience. Mindy is blessed and humbled by the love and support of her family – her husband Craig and four amazing children: Max, Anna, Will and Julia.

Kendra Thomas

Kendra Thomas (formerly Leonard) is a performer at the Cincinnati Museum center and the theater director at Indian Hill School District. Kendra graduated with a Theater Arts degree from Miami University, where she focused on directing and stage-managing.  Kendra is a former FHS grad and has worked with STARS for over a decade.  Kendra is well-loved for her Rapunzel work at little girls’ birthday parties.  She and her husband, Casey, have one daughter.
